In a groundbreaking move towards a unified user experience across different devices, tech giant Microsoft has announced a new feature that makes it significantly easier for Windows 11 users to manage files on their Android phones. According to the company, this feature allows “Windows Insider” users to seamlessly and wirelessly browse all files on Android devices. Users can now open, copy, move, rename, and delete files directly from their computers, providing a more efficient file management experience compared to the Phone Link app.
Furthermore, the new feature integrates Android devices as storage devices in File Explorer. This means that phone files can be managed like any other external storage device, making file transfer quicker and simpler. The company stated, “Deleting files from the phone using a PC moves them to the phone’s Recycle Bin, where they remain for five days instead of the usual thirty. However, this will be corrected in a future update to ensure automatic deletion after thirty days. Additionally, deleted files in the phone’s Recycle Bin may not always appear in File Explorer, and this issue will also be addressed in a future update.”
