Elon Musk’s company xAI has announced the addition of a memory feature to its Grok model, allowing the chatbot to remember details from previous conversations with users, according to TechCrunch.
This move aims to compete with leading AI models like ChatGPT, which features a similar memory function recently upgraded to include the user’s entire chat history, and Gemini, which also has memory capabilities enabling it to personalize responses for each individual. With the new memory feature, Grok can now provide more tailored replies based on past interactions.
The memory feature is currently available in beta on the official Grok website and on the Grok apps for Android and iOS, but it is not accessible to users in the European Union or the United Kingdom.
The feature can be enabled from the settings page, where users also have the option to delete saved memories. You can see exactly what Grok remembers and choose what you want it to forget—just click the icon below Grok’s response to take action. It’s important to note, however, that making Grok forget a conversation does not delete it from the chat history.
