The Global AI Summit, jointly organized by Korea and the UK to address the risks and opportunities associated with this rapidly evolving technology and propose a framework for AI governance, kicks off today, Tuesday, May 21 in Seoul.
the Seoul AI Summit, held under the theme “Building on the AI Safety Summit: Towards an Innovative and Inclusive Future,” will feature virtual and in-person sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Yonhap adds that the event will bring together leaders from major world powers, representatives from leading technology companies, and international organizations.
According to Yonhap, Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will co-chair a virtual leaders’ session today, Tuesday, which will be attended by the Group of Seven (G7) countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, as well as Singapore and Australia.
Representatives from the United Nations and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), as well as tech giants such as OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Samsung, and Naver, have also been invited.
On the second day, a ministerial session will be held at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology to discuss measures to strengthen AI safety, sustainability, and resilience.
