Ministry of Health and Social Protection Launches a Large National Catch-up Campaign to Promote Measles Vaccination
Alalam24, As part of its communication strategy on monitoring the epidemiological situation of measles, and in the context of its ongoing efforts to combat the spread of epidemic diseases and protect public health, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection announces that it has detected new cases of measles in our country, which raises concerns about the possibility of this virus spreading.
The World Health Organization continues to warn of global setbacks in surveillance efforts and declining vaccination rates worldwide. No country is free from measles, which increases the likelihood of outbreaks and puts all unvaccinated children at risk of death.
As part of its proactive policy to limit the spread of epidemics and respond to them quickly, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection announces the launch of a large national catch-up and measles vaccination promotion campaign. This campaign aims to increase childhood vaccination rates to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels, which had a negative impact on vaccination coverage rates in most regions and provinces of the Kingdom.
In this regard, the Ministry urges all families, especially fathers, mothers, and guardians, to rush to check their children’s health records at health centers and private clinics to ensure that they have received the necessary doses to protect themselves against measles (at the ninth and eighteenth months). It also emphasizes the need to give two doses of the vaccine to children who have not yet received it, as well as to complete the doses for those who have only received one dose.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection emphasizes the importance of this campaign as a preventive measure to protect citizens and the community from the risk of contracting measles. It calls on all concerned categories to participate actively and go to health centers to receive the vaccine, which is available free of charge.
