President Biden and Prime Minister Modi Strengthen Bilateral Relations Amid Global Tensions”
Alalam24, President Joe Biden welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House on Thursday, as part of an official visit that reflects the growing importance of relations between the two countries, particularly in the face of tensions with Russia and China.
During a ceremony to mark the occasion, President Biden praised the immense potential that lies within the U.S.-India relationship, considering both nations as friends and formidable powers capable of shaping the course of the 21st century.
The visit is expected to be marked by the signing of a series of agreements encompassing areas such as technology, trade, and defense. Experts view this visit as a reflection of India’s increasing role in global affairs and Washington’s desire to strengthen ties with the Asian giant, seeing it as a bulwark against China.
In addition to various aspects of bilateral cooperation, American officials have indicated that the agenda for discussions between Biden and Modi includes several global issues, notably the war in Ukraine, relations with China, trade, and immigration.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to address the Indian community in the United States, which numbers around 4.5 million people. He will also hold a meeting with the American business community.
The United States is the third-largest investor in India, with imports from India reaching $43.4 billion in 2022, while exports amounted to $76.1 billion. Both countries aim to increase their bilateral trade volume to exceed $500 billion by 2025
