Recent Study.. Disruption of the Biological Clock Increases the Risk of Obesity and Diabetes

A recent study has revealed that disruption of the biological clock disturbs the function of fat cells and promotes obesity and diabetes. The circadian rhythm regulates metabolism, making the stability of this system a central element of biological balance, ensuring efficient energy production and preventing tissue disorders.

According to a report cited by Al Arabiya, scientists from Northwestern University in the United States found in research published in the journal Nature Metabolism that disruption of the CLOCK and BMAL1 genes weakens mitochondria and prevents them from efficiently burning nutrients. This leads to dysfunction in insulin pathways and lipid metabolism.

In the same context, researchers used an enzyme derived from baker’s yeast to restore the NAD+ molecule, which helped recover the metabolic efficiency of fat cells and their chemical balance without requiring changes in body weight. This finding demonstrates the possibility of treating metabolic dysfunction from within, regardless of fat mass.

These results pave the way for the development of precision treatments that directly target cellular energy and combat chronic inflammation resulting from disruptions in biological timing. The research team emphasized that harmony between the body’s internal clock and mitochondrial functions is a key factor in improving overall health.
