WhatsApp has unveiled a set of 12 new features aimed at improving performance and offering a smoother, more interactive user experience. This move highlights the platform’s commitment to keeping up with the rapid evolution of the instant messaging market and meeting the expectations of its diverse user base.
Among the most notable additions is the ability to see, in real time, the number of group members currently online, providing immediate insight into group activity and presence. iPhone users will benefit from a built-in document scanner that allows them to scan and save documents without third-party apps. They can also now set WhatsApp as the default app for calls and messaging directly through their device settings.
The updates also enhance the experience of using channels, introducing features like automatic transcription of voice messages into text, and the ability to record and share short videos up to 60 seconds long. Additionally, new settings allow for more precise control over group notification alerts.
To boost interaction, users can now tap on an emoji reaction to copy it instantly. Event features within the app have been expanded with new options such as responding “Maybe” to invitations, setting event end dates, inviting additional participants, and pinning events in group chats for easier access.
As for calls, technical improvements have been made to enhance audio quality, along with the ability to invite people to ongoing calls directly from the chat window. A pinch-to-zoom feature has also been added for video calls.
Altogether, these updates reflect WhatsApp’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to anticipating user needs in a fast-changing digital landscape
