Mikhail Leous, an expert at the Russian meteorological center “Phobos,” has confirmed that the sun is still in a phase of increasing activity until the end of the year.
The expert explained that “the sun will continue to increase its activity, and this will continue until the end of this year,” adding that there will be “more magnetic storms.”
During a press conference held yesterday, Wednesday, in Moscow on the topic of magnetic storms, Leous stated that “the sun is still in a growth phase, that is, a phase of intensification of its activity cycle, and this will continue until the end of this year approximately, and perhaps also during the first half of next year. The Earth will experience more strong magnetic storms during this period.”
The expert also explained that the solar cycle will gradually decrease until its minimum, and there will be fewer magnetic storms, emphasizing that the current solar cycle will not approach the intensity of the magnetic storms that the Earth experienced in the 1990s.
He added that he does not expect, over the next seven days, any major disturbances to the Earth’s magnetosphere or magnetic storms.
It should be noted that solar cycles last about 11 years and include phases of maximum and minimum activity.
