WHO: No Scientific Evidence Linking Vaccines to Autism Spectrum Disorders

The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed, in a recent report, that there is no causal relationship between the use of vaccines and the development of autism spectrum disorders, following a comprehensive review of the latest scientific data published between January 2010 and August 2025.

The report, issued by the Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety, explains that the reviews covered all types of vaccines, including those containing thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative that had previously been the subject of scientifically unfounded allegations.

According to the report, 20 out of 31 robust scientific studies found no evidence of any link between vaccines and autism. It emphasized that the committee only considers a causal relationship when multiple high-quality studies consistently demonstrate a statistically significant association.

The WHO also stated that it found insufficient evidence of a link between the use of paracetamol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy and the development of autism in fetuses, in response to earlier statements that had sparked controversy.
