Platform “X” Unveils New Feature to Boost Transparency and Combat Misinformation

The social media platform X has introduced a new feature called “About This Account”, a tool designed to provide clearer information about users, most notably indicating their country of residence based on connection data.

According to technology reports, visitors to any account can view these details by clicking on the “join date” section, which then displays an expanded description. This includes the number of times the account owner has changed their username, as well as the date of the most recent modification.

Nikita Bier, the platform’s Product Director, stated that the feature has been available worldwide since November 22, 2025, describing it as “a first step toward enhancing safety within the global open digital space.”

The company emphasizes that the goal of this new feature is to curb misinformation and strengthen account transparency, especially for profiles using fake identities or operated from abroad to spread political or promotional content.

The tool has been widely welcomed among Arab users, who consider it an effective way to expose fake accounts running suspicious campaigns or linked to malicious entities targeting public opinion in the region.
