Born in Casablanca, the late Naïma Samih was a prominent figure in modern Moroccan music, leaving behind a rich repertoire of songs that gained widespread success across the Arab world.
Naïma Samih began her singing career at a young age and made her first television appearance in the early 1970s on the show “Mawaheb,” hosted by the renowned composer Abdenbi Jirari. Her artistic journey was marked by a diverse musical range, including sentimental, patriotic, and religious songs.
The late singer collaborated with notable composers and poets, including Abdelkader Rachdi, Ahmed Alaoui, Ahmed Tayeb El Alj, and Ali Haddani. Among her most famous songs are “Jrit W Jarit,” “Yak A Jarhi,” “Kif Lmaani,” “LBhara,” and several other popular hits that were later covered by Arab artists.
Naïma Samih was also a trailblazer, becoming the first Moroccan singer and the third Arab artist to perform at the famous Olympia in Paris, following the legendary Oum Kalthoum and Fairouz, solidifying her place as an iconic figure in Arab music.
