AstraZeneca Withdraws Vaxzevria COVID-19 Vaccine from Market
AstraZeneca, the British pharmaceutical company, announced on Wednesday the withdrawal of its COVID-19 vaccine, Vaxzevria, from the market. The company cited “commercial reasons” and a surplus of updated vaccine doses as the basis for its decision.
A company spokesperson explained that the development of numerous COVID-19 vaccines targeting the current variants of the virus has led to an increase in the quantity of updated vaccines available. Due to this oversupply, demand for the Vaxzevria vaccine has decreased, prompting the halt of its manufacturing and withdrawal from the market.
This announcement comes amid ongoing changes in the vaccine market, with manufacturers striving to update their products to address new variants of the coronavirus.
