Alalam24, Under the leadership of Mrs. Aouatif Hayar, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, along with Mrs. Mariem Bekdili, representative of the World Health Organization in Morocco, a workshop was held to define the healthcare services basket for persons with disabilities. This event, organized by the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family with support from the World Health Organization, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the National Health Insurance Agency, and the National Social Security Fund, took place on Thursday, February 15, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM, at the Farah Hotel in Rabat.
This meeting falls within the framework of implementing the care emphasized by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, for persons with disabilities, timing to ensure their full rights through the widespread provision of social protection.
It also aligns with the commitments of the government program 2021-2026, particularly in reinforcing the pillars of social welfare, and within the framework of implementing the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family’s strategy “Jisr” for innovative and sustainable social integration. This strategy is built on three fundamental pillars: a smart and integrated social environment; equality, empowerment, and leadership; family, value system, and sustainability. In this context, the Ministry, with support from the World Health Organization, initiated a study on “Analyzing the Needs of Persons with Disabilities in the Health Sector and Defining the Healthcare Services Basket for Them,” aiming to facilitate their access to essential and specialized health services.
The objective of this meeting is to present the report of the first phase of this study, focusing on the analysis of the health needs of persons with disabilities in Morocco. Additionally, it aims to discuss and identify the priority list of needs, especially in the areas of technical aids and vocational rehabilitation services.
This event will see the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the National Health Insurance Agency, the National Social Security Fund, as well as professionals in the field of vocational rehabilitation for persons with disabilities.
