OpenAI Launches a Search Engine to Rival Google

The American company OpenAI has launched a new online search engine. It plans to integrate this feature into its ChatGPT chatbot, making this generative AI-powered conversation program a serious competitor to Google.

On its website, the company explained that this experimental product, known as SearchGPT, will initially be accessible to a limited group of users. Backed by $13 billion in investments from Microsoft, OpenAI has started receiving applications to join a waitlist that will accommodate 10,000 testers.

SearchGPT has been developed using content from several publishers with whom OpenAI has recently signed agreements. The company has tested and designed this search tool in collaboration with the product teams of these publishers to ensure the quality and reliability of the information provided.

SearchGPT differs from ChatGPT by going beyond a simple answer. It offers a series of links, similar to a traditional search engine, allowing users to click to access external websites. It also provides up-to-date information from the web with clear links to the relevant sources.
