A recent report issued by the Australian Jobs and Skills Agency predicts that artificial intelligence will bring about profound transformations in the Australian labor market over the coming decades, with impacts varying according to the nature of different professions.
According to the British newspaper The Guardian, traditional occupations such as receptionists, office clerks, accountants, as well as professionals in marketing and public relations, along with analysts and programmers, are among those most at risk of automation or replacement by intelligent technologies.
Conversely, demand is expected to rise for certain manual and field-based jobs, including cleaning, safety, management, construction, mining, and hospitality, which appear less susceptible to automation in the short term.
The report suggests that the greatest impact of artificial intelligence will not be the disappearance of jobs but rather their reconfiguration. It also notes that the pace of job growth may slow during the 2030s before deeper transformations become more evident in the 2040s.
