Mutation of the Bird Flu Virus Raises Concerns in the United States

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States announced the discovery of a new mutation of the bird flu virus in a patient in Louisiana.

Analyses revealed that this mutation allows the virus to bind more effectively to receptors in the upper respiratory tract and human bronchi, raising concerns in scientific circles.

However, researchers emphasized that this mutation does not mean the virus has become easily transmissible between humans. It is still far from posing a major public health threat.

Dr. Michael Osterholm, an infectious disease expert at the University of Minnesota, stated that this mutation represents a step in the virus’s evolution but has not yet reached an alarming stage.

U.S. health authorities continue to closely monitor the virus to ensure appropriate preventive measures are implemented and to protect public health from any potential developments.
