The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed today that Morocco, under the high instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is prepared to broaden and diversify its cooperation with Madagascar to elevate bilateral relations to the ambitious level befitting the potential of both countries
During a joint press conference with the Malagasy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rabaratou Ravoraravy, who is on an official visit to Morocco, Bourita highlighted that the two nations are working on a roadmap to establish a dynamic partnership in priority areas for both Morocco and Madagascar, and to strengthen their bilateral relations
Bourita emphasized that this visit, the first by the Malagasy Foreign Minister to Morocco, presents an opportunity to devise an action plan for the upcoming weeks and months to create a robust and diverse partnership
He noted that the opening of a Malagasy embassy in Rabat will mark a significant milestone in consolidating the relations between the two countries and will serve as a mechanism to exploit available cooperation opportunities. Bourita also mentioned that there is an agreement to revive the joint committee, which will soon meet in Antananarivo, and to encourage sectoral visits between relevant ministries in fields such as renewable energy, agriculture, fertilizers, transportation, tourism, territorial cooperation, as well as professional and diplomatic training
Reflecting on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Madagascar, Bourita stated that this occasion is a testament to the strength of their bilateral relations and an opportunity to explore ways to enhance them. He recalled the historic visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Madagascar in 2016, which marked a significant turning point in the relations between the two countries
