A Twin Study.. Physical Activity Does Not Necessarily Prolong Life but Improves Health

new Finnish study has revealed that regular physical activity is not a fundamental requirement for extending lifespan, as previously believed, although it plays a crucial role in improving overall health and quality of life. According to the study, which tracked data from 23,000 twins over more than 45 years, the benefits of exercise are primarily seen in enhancing health throughout life rather than directly increasing longevity.

Researchers used several advanced scientific tools, including genetic risk analysis and biological aging markers, and categorized participants into four groups based on their activity levels, ranging from low to high intensity. The results showed that individuals with low to moderate activity levels benefited the most from exercise, experiencing a 7% reduction in mortality risk. However, this effect was not observed among highly active individuals.

On the other hand, the research team emphasized that physical activity remains a key factor in improving quality of life, preventing chronic diseases, and maintaining mental health, even if it has not been proven to directly extend lifespan.

These findings support the idea that exercise is not necessarily a means to increase theķ8more independent.
