After his inauguration on Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump arrived at the White House to begin his second term, announcing that he would cancel nearly 80 executive orders made by the previous administration. He also decided to immediately freeze regulations and government hiring.
In his speech in Washington following his inauguration, Trump stated, “I will cancel nearly 80 devastating and extreme executive orders made by the previous administration.”
He added, “I will impose an immediate freeze on regulations, preventing bureaucrats under (former President) Joe Biden from continuing to issue regulations.” Trump also specified that he would implement “a temporary freeze on hiring to ensure that we only hire competent individuals loyal to the American people.”
Earlier in the day, Trump had announced the creation of an advisory group aimed at significantly reducing the size of the administration and massively eliminating government agencies, which led some to file legal challenges against this decision.
