The Russian space agency Roscosmos has made a significant breakthrough by developing a prototype of a new vehicle designed to ensure smooth communication with spacecraft during their return to Earth.
This vehicle, designed and developed by experts at the Yaroslavl Radio Engineering Plant, is an integral part of the set of equipment dedicated to receiving and recording voice communications from spacecraft during landing operations.
It plays a crucial role in ensuring effective communication between astronauts and rescue teams at landing sites, in addition to recording videos that accurately document the return journey of spacecraft to Earth.
This unique vehicle is distinguished by its ability to traverse various terrains thanks to its construction on locally modified truck platforms for this purpose. Each vehicle also has two workstations equipped with all the necessary equipment for its crew.
According to Alexander Sachov, General Director of the Yaroslavl Radio Engineering Plant, “this vehicle is one of a kind and is designed for specific tasks.”
Sachov stressed that the plant’s extensive experience in developing such vehicles has enabled specialists to create mobile communication equipment for the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The new vehicle is currently undergoing further testing this fall after successfully passing acceptance tests and initial factory tests.
