Moroccan Seniors.. Refusal of Retirement Choice or Necessity

The ambition of Moroccan seniors does not fade with retirement age. Instead, they choose to embark on new experiences by pursuing second careers, driven by material, psychological, and social factors. A recent study by the LMS-CSA research firm reveals an interesting phenomenon: many seniors over the age of 60 are changing their professional paths, whether from the public to the private sector, from being an employee to becoming a business owner, or even radically changing their field of activity.

The study indicates that this trend stems from a strong desire to generate additional income to strengthen their financial stability, especially as living expenses and healthcare costs associated with chronic diseases, which become more common with age, increase.

However, the motivations of seniors are not limited solely to the material aspect. They also include the desire to maintain personal development and fill the free time that results from retirement. Many study participants also express their feelings of energy and enthusiasm for pursuing leisure activities, traveling, and discovering new facets of life.

Nevertheless, the study sheds light on a dark side of Moroccan seniors’ lives: their feeling of neglect by companies and brands that do not include them in their priorities for offers and services. This sentiment underscores the urgent need to pay more attention to this important category of society and to effectively integrate them into all aspects of life.

In general, the study highlights an interesting contrast in the lives of Moroccan seniors. On the one hand, we find a large proportion of them who show a strong will to continue working and producing, motivated by the need and desire to progress. On the other hand, some others suffer from social and commercial neglect that hinders their full integration into society.
