OpenAI has rolled out a major update to its ChatGPT app for macOS, introducing an innovative feature called “Record Mode.” This new functionality is designed to enhance the user experience by transforming the app into a powerful tool for documenting meetings, organizing ideas, and executing plans.
The feature allows users to record conversations via voice, which the AI then automatically transcribes with high accuracy. It analyzes the content to extract key points and main topics, and can even suggest follow-up actions—such as assigning tasks or generating code when needed. Users can ask direct questions like “What was agreed upon?” or “What are the key decisions?” to receive instant summaries.
This development comes amid a sharp rise in ChatGPT’s popularity, with its user base growing from 400 million to 500 million in just two months. OpenAI now serves over 3 million businesses, in addition to 15.5 million subscribers to its paid “Plus” plan.
This feature marks a significant evolution for ChatGPT, shifting it from a simple response generator to a smart assistant for time management, workflow organization, and productivity enhancement—both for individuals and teams.
This technological growth is matched by remarkable financial performance: OpenAI’s revenue is projected to reach $12.7 billion in 2025, up from $3.7 billion in 2024—representing an annual growth rate exceeding 190%.
