WhatsApp has announced the launch of a new feature that allows users to add music to their status updates, aiming to enhance the sharing and interaction experience on the app.
In a post on its official account on the “X” platform, the company confirmed that this feature will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks, enabling users to insert music clips from a library containing millions of songs.
This new feature works similarly to Instagram Stories, where users can choose from a wide selection of songs categorized by trending genres or personal favorites. When creating a new status, a musical note icon will appear at the top of the screen, providing access to the integrated music library.
Songs can be added to images for up to 15 seconds or to videos for up to 60 seconds. WhatsApp also emphasized that all additions will be fully encrypted, ensuring user privacy.
This update is part of a series of recent enhancements aimed at improving user experience and increasing engagement. WhatsApp has already introduced improvements to calls across different devices, added channels, and made its customer messaging service free for businesses.
The addition of music to status updates marks another step toward making the app more interactive, potentially boosting its global usage even further.
