OpenAI announced on Friday that it will begin testing the display of advertisements within the ChatGPT platform in the coming weeks, as part of a strategy aimed at diversifying the company’s revenue streams.
In an official statement, the company clarified that users subscribed to the Enterprise, Plus, and Pro plans will not be affected by this experiment and will continue to use the platform without ads. The test will instead target free accounts of adult users in the United States.
At the same time, OpenAI revealed the launch of a low-cost subscription plan designed for “Go” accounts in the U.S. market, which will include the display of advertisements while using the application.
The company explained that ads will appear below ChatGPT’s responses and will be clearly labeled to ensure transparency. It also emphasized that this initiative will not affect the platform’s performance and reaffirmed its commitment not to sell user data to advertisers, in an effort to reassure users about privacy protection.
