Unprecedented Medical Achievement in China

A Chinese medical team has successfully performed a delicate retinal surgery using a robot connected to a 5G network, marking an unprecedented medical breakthrough that allowed surgeons to operate remotely from over 4,000 kilometers away.

The operation took place last Sunday, when doctors in Guangzhou, southern China, remotely controlled a high-precision robotic arm located in a hospital in Ürümqi, northwest China, to perform a microscopic retinal injection on a patient suffering from severe visual disorders.

The surgery achieved micron-level precision, enabling the surgeons to guide the micro-needle to the retinal surface with exceptional accuracy, pierce it to a pre-defined depth, and inject the medication.

The entire procedure lasted only seven minutes, during which the 5G connection remained perfectly stable and responsive, ensuring seamless synchronization between the surgeons and the robot.

Experts consider this experiment a major leap forward in telemedicine, as it provides advanced solutions to bridge the gap between major hospitals and remote regions, particularly in high-precision surgical fields such as ophthalmology and macular degeneration that threaten vision.
