China has announced the successful launch of a new satellite dedicated to remote sensing, as part of its efforts to strengthen its space-based monitoring and natural resource management capabilities. The launch took place at the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan Province, southern China.
According to official media, the “Yaogan-46” satellite was launched at 11:47 a.m. Beijing time aboard a modified “Long March-7” carrier rocket and successfully entered its designated orbit just minutes after liftoff.
The new satellite will serve multiple purposes, including environmental monitoring, land resource management, meteorological and hydrological observation, as well as support for disaster prevention and relief efforts.
This marks the 605th mission in the “Long March” rocket series, reflecting China’s continued expansion of its space activities and advancement in satellite technologies for civilian and scientific applications.
