Chinese Study.. Drinking Coffee and Tea May Reduce the Risk of Dementia

A recent medical study conducted by Ningxia Medical University in China has revealed that moderate consumption of coffee or tea may help reduce the risk of developing dementia, especially among individuals with high blood pressure.

According to Scientific Reports, researchers analyzed health data from more than 450,000 participants in the UK Biobank, who were followed over a 15-year period. About half of them had been diagnosed with hypertension.

The findings showed that people with high blood pressure who drank between half a cup and one cup of coffee per day were less likely to develop dementia compared to those who consumed six or more cups daily.

Researchers also observed that individuals with high blood pressure who drank four to five cups of tea per day had a significantly lower risk of dementia.

These results highlight the importance of moderation in consuming caffeinated beverages: moderate amounts of coffee and tea may offer potential brain protection and help preserve cognitive health in the long term.
