According to Bloomberg News, Apple is preparing to launch new smart glasses by the end of next year, as part of its efforts to diversify its product portfolio and strengthen its position in the AI-powered device market.
Sources familiar with the matter indicated that Apple plans to begin mass production of prototype units by the end of this year, working in collaboration with external suppliers.
This move comes after the limited success of the previous Vision Pro glasses, which faced lukewarm demand due to their high price and lack of advanced AI features. The new glasses are expected to directly compete with Meta’s popular Ray-Ban smart glasses.
In a related development, Bloomberg revealed that Apple has canceled its plans to release a smartwatch equipped with a built-in camera capable of analyzing the surroundings, which had been expected by 2027. This reflects a strategic reassessment of the company’s approach to developing wearable devices.
