Artificial Intelligence Is Eliminating Job Opportunities for Entry-Level Workers in the Tech Sector

Recent studies indicate that the job market in the technology sector is undergoing a major shift in hiring priorities, with companies increasingly favoring experienced professionals over recent graduates, due to the rapid advancement of AI tools.

Data from SignalFire, a firm that tracks employment trends across more than 600 million professionals worldwide, shows that major tech companies reduced their hiring of new graduates by 25% in 2024 compared to the previous year.

This trend isn’t limited to large corporations. Startups have also cut their recruitment of entry-level graduates by around 11%, according to the tech news outlet TechCrunch.

These changes in hiring patterns are largely attributed to the growing reliance on artificial intelligence systems, which have proven highly efficient at performing routine tasks traditionally assigned to junior employees. These tasks include basic programming, code testing, financial analysis, and software installation.

Commenting on these shifts, Asher Pantuq, Head of Research at SignalFire, stated that AI has become a decisive factor in modern hiring decisions. He emphasized that entry-level jobs are increasingly at risk of being replaced by automation, as AI continues to carry out their responsibilities with greater efficiency.
