On the morning of Monday, April 14, 2025, the city of Marrakech witnessed the official opening of the third edition of GITEX Africa, in an exceptional atmosphere that once again reaffirms Morocco’s growing role as a central African and global platform for technological innovation. Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, the event is now recognized as the largest digital gathering of its kind on the African continent, attracting more than 45,000 visitors and bringing together over 1,400 exhibitors from more than 130 countries.

The official opening ceremony was marked by the presence of numerous prominent figures from the worlds of politics, economy, and technology. Among them was the Head of the Moroccan Government, Aziz Akhannouch, who delivered a video message to attendees. Several ministers, high-ranking officials, representatives of international institutions, and leading investors were also present, underlining the event’s increasing strategic importance in the digital transformation agenda of Africa and beyond.

Organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, with active support from the Digital Development Agency, the exhibition is part of an ambitious vision aimed at strengthening digital integration between governments, entrepreneurs, and investors, while consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a dynamic bridge between Africa and the rest of the world.

The 2025 edition stands out with its intellectually rich and well-structured programming, featuring high-level sectoral conferences, professional networking spaces, and interactive workshops that bring together international experts in artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, and smart cities. The exhibition also highlights the latest technological innovations in key sectors such as education (EdTech), smart agriculture (AgriTech), digital health (HealthTech), and sports (SportsTech), reflecting its commitment to offering tangible solutions to development challenges across the African continent.

One of the key highlights of this edition is the summit “Connecting the Africa of Tomorrow”, which brings together leaders in digital sectors to explore strategies for expanding broadband coverage, developing 5G technologies, and strengthening strategic public-private partnerships, all with the goal of establishing a sustainable and inclusive digital infrastructure across Africa.

In a strong commitment to elevating African talent on a global scale, a dedicated space has been created to connect African professionals from the diaspora with local technological ecosystems. The aim is to foster knowledge transfer, encourage investment, and promote collaborative innovation through cross-border partnerships.
