WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature aimed at enhancing privacy within conversations by preventing the saving of exchanged photos or videos on other users’ devices.
This feature, similar in concept to disappearing messages, will give users greater control over what is shared in chats—especially when it comes to sensitive information or media.
According to Reuters, the feature will allow users to enable an advanced privacy setting for each individual chat, which will also block the export of chat histories and the use of Meta’s AI tools within those conversations.
This new step by WhatsApp is considered a major improvement in privacy protection, as it prevents personal data from being leaked or shared without the owner’s knowledge or consent.
Although the app currently allows chat exports, this option will no longer be available once the new feature is activated. It’s worth noting that the feature is still in its early development stages and may take several weeks or even months before it is officially rolled out to all users, according to the same source.
