The global e-commerce platform AliExpress, owned by the Chinese group Alibaba, announced its plans to launch a payment service in Moroccan dirhams next February.
This initiative is part of an expansion plan aimed at improving the shopping experience for Moroccan users and better meeting their local needs.
The change will facilitate purchases for consumers in Morocco and several other African countries such as Algeria, Egypt, South Africa, and Tanzania, by allowing them to pay in their local currencies.
AliExpress made this decision following the success of local currency payment services in African countries like Kenya and Nigeria, which led them to extend this model to other markets.
This move is expected to increase the platform’s appeal to users in these markets, making the shopping experience more aligned with their financial needs, while also enhancing the overall online shopping experience.
On the other hand, AliExpress stands out with its high-quality logistics in Morocco, where consumers can receive their orders within less than 10 days, which improves customer satisfaction and strengthens the platform’s competitiveness in the local market.
