On January 24, 2025, the SEBN Maroc factory in Bouknadel had the honor of hosting an exceptional visit from Rachid Yazami, a world-renowned Moroccan scientist and symbol of innovation and creativity. This event brought together science and work, individual creativity, and corporate achievements, leaving a profound impact on the minds of the workers and executives present.
The day began with a guided tour of the site, during which Yazami explored the latest technologies and systems used in the design and production of electrical cables for the automotive industry, as well as the safety measures in place. He expressed his admiration for the advanced infrastructure and efficient management of the factory, emphasizing that such facilities represent a strong pillar for the Moroccan industrial sector and illustrate the Kingdom’s ambition to become a global leader.
After the tour, the workers and guests gathered in a main hall to attend a speech by Rachid Yazami. During this address, he shared his inspiring journey, discussing his scientific and professional path. Starting from Fès, Yazami became a global figure, nicknamed “the father of the battery” for his invention of the “graphite anode,” which revolutionized the development of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. He also developed a technology that allows electronic devices and electric vehicle batteries to charge in record time.
After completing his secondary education in Fès, Yazami moved to Rabat between 1971 and 1972 to pursue his university studies at the Faculty of Sciences at Mohammed V University. In September 1972, after one year of studies, he decided to leave Morocco for France, marking the beginning of a new phase in his scientific and professional life that would leave an indelible mark on his field, propelling him to global success thanks to his groundbreaking invention in lithium-ion batteries. He also emphasized that innovation has no limits when combined with hard work and continuous learning, encouraging the participants to think innovatively and invest their energy to excel.
What gave this meeting a special dimension was the interactive session, which allowed for direct dialogue between the scientist and the workers. Yazami answered the participants’ varied questions with sincerity and transparency, sharing his vision of the future of technology, artificial intelligence, and the role of Moroccan youth in this field. The session was full of energy and inspiration, leaving the participants with new ideas and a deeper understanding of the importance of science in development.
The SEBN Maroc management expressed its pride and gratitude for hosting this exceptional figure, highlighting that this day represents a key moment in the company’s mission to promote a culture of innovation and creativity. The management also emphasized that Rachid Yazami’s visit was not an isolated event but the realization of a broader vision aimed at developing local skills and instilling a spirit of perseverance and ambition among the employees. With his impressive career, Yazami holds no fewer than 180 patents and over 250 scientific publications, and he was ranked among the top 10 most influential Muslim figures in 2015 for his exceptional achievements.
This day, combining inspiration and science, was a golden opportunity to reflect on the vast potential of Morocco and its youth, as well as their ability to excel in technology and industry. Rachid Yazami, with his humble personality and grand achievements, not only left a memorable impression on the participants but also reignited a flame of hope and determination to continue the path of success.
