The Spanish newspaper Marca revealed on December 27, 2024, that Real Madrid had initiated steps to gradually change the name of its iconic stadium, “Santiago Bernabéu,” to the simpler “Bernabéu.”
This carefully considered decision aims to strengthen the club’s marketing objectives and make the name more appealing on a global scale. The club hopes to transform “Bernabéu” into a distinctive brand, thereby increasing the stadium’s revenue.
Marca also noted that these changes might include adding a commercial sponsor’s name to the stadium in the future, subject to the approval of the club’s general assembly.
