Microsoft has warned of a technical issue affecting manual installation methods of the Windows 11 operating system, which could prevent computers from receiving future security updates.
The company explained that this issue arises when using installation media containing updates from October or November 2024. However, devices that received these updates through traditional methods, such as the Windows Update service or the Microsoft Update Catalog website, are unaffected.
To avoid this problem, Microsoft recommends recreating the installation media using the December 2024 update, released on December 10, and then reinstalling the system.
The company also advises ensuring that installation media include this monthly update to prevent future issues.
Additionally, the “24H2” update has other bugs, including problems with certain audio devices, difficulties using Outlook, and incompatibilities with some Ubisoft games. Microsoft has begun rolling out gradual fixes to address these issues on affected devices.
