A Blank White Canvas Achieves Record Sales at a Berlin Auction

The German auction house Ketterer Kunst has announced the sale of an entirely white artwork at an auction scheduled for December 6 and 7 in Berlin. This piece, titled “General 52 x 52”, is signed by renowned American artist Robert Ryman. Created in 1970, it was crafted using white enamel paint on a stretched cotton canvas.

Although the canvas may initially appear devoid of details or colors, it is regarded as a masterpiece of significant value. Its estimated worth exceeds $1.5 million, reflecting its exceptional appeal in the art world.
