The Eiffel Tower was temporarily evacuated on Tuesday following a short circuit in the iconic Parisian landmark.
According to French media reports, a fire alarm was triggered in the morning due to a short circuit in the shaft of one of the elevators, located between the second floor and the top of the tower.
The news outlet BFM TV reported that the incident posed no danger to the visitors present at the time. The monument was temporarily closed as a precautionary measure to ensure everyone’s safety. Reopening was scheduled for later in the day but only up to the second floor.
Meanwhile, the newspaper Le Parisien stated that the cause of the short circuit remains unknown, with investigations underway to determine its exact origin.
