Ten Years After Its Disappearance.. Malaysia Resumes Search for Missing Plane “MH370” Under Mysterious Circumstances
The Malaysian government recently announced its agreement to launch new searches to locate the missing Malaysian plane “MH370,” which disappeared under mysterious circumstances ten years ago.
Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that the cabinet had approved a proposal by the US-British company Ocean Infinity to explore a new area in the southern Indian Ocean.
On March 8, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 vanished during its flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, carrying 239 people on board. Since then, the disappearance has raised numerous unanswered questions, despite being the subject of the largest aviation search operation in history. Despite significant efforts by international search teams, neither the plane nor any conclusive evidence about its fate has been found.
On December 13, 2024, the Malaysian government approved Ocean Infinity’s proposal in principle to explore a new area spanning approximately 15,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean.
Minister Anthony Loke described the company’s proposal as “strong” and worthy of consideration, fostering hope that this operation may finally provide answers after years of mystery.
Previous searches, which covered vast areas of the Indian Ocean, failed to locate the plane, though some debris found in specific parts of the ocean offered clues about the flight’s trajectory. With ongoing international and local efforts, many families affected by the tragedy hope this new operation will uncover evidence that could help solve the mystery of the missing plane.
The minister also highlighted that Ocean Infinity’s proposed operation would leverage advanced technologies, including the use of modern equipment to map the ocean floor and explore a previously uncharted area.
