Ibn Tofaïl University Explores the Challenges of Smart Governance.. An Experts’ Meeting in Kenitra

Ibn Tofaïl University, in partnership with the Association of French Elected Officials and the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences, organized a major event under the theme: “What Governance for a Smart Territory?”

This gathering brought together experts, researchers, and Moroccan and French political leaders to discuss crucial issues related to smart territorial governance.

This exceptional event, part of the cooperation agreements between France and Morocco, was attended by a high-level French delegation. It provided an opportunity to compare the perspectives of Moroccan academics with the practical experiences of French territorial leaders. The objective was to share experiences and practical solutions for local management and sustainable development.

Franco-Moroccan engagement aligns with a growing dynamic of cooperation strengthened by the recent state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco. This visit saw the signing of several agreements in higher education and scientific research. Ibn Tofaïl University, along with other institutions, is benefiting from these partnerships to develop smart territorial intelligence capable of addressing future challenges.

Key areas of cooperation include sustainable development, water management, renewable energy, and the integration of artificial intelligence into local strategies. Morocco, recognized as a leader in water management research, aims to leverage these technologies to support governance and economic development. Youth also play a pivotal role, as the future of smart territories relies on investing in upcoming generations.

This collaboration seeks to strengthen ties between Moroccan and French local communities in various fields, such as housing management, water and sanitation, and urban planning. French elected officials share their expertise to assist their Moroccan counterparts in overcoming the specific challenges of their territories.

Beyond political and diplomatic aspects, this initiative reflects a shared commitment to building innovative solutions that benefit not only local populations but also Moroccan businesses through concrete actions and mutual exchanges.
