YouTube has announced the development of new tools designed to give creators on the platform greater control over content that replicates their voice or image using generative AI.
In a blog post, the platform stated that this new similarity management technology helps protect creators while enabling them to harness the creative potential of AI by promoting the development of responsible AI.
The first tool, described as a synthetic singing detection technology, allows artists and creators to automatically detect YouTube content that mimics their singing voices using generative AI.
YouTube indicated that this tool is integrated into the existing copyright identification system, Content ID, and plans to test it in a pilot program next year.
This announcement follows YouTube’s pledge last November to provide companies with a way to remove AI-generated copies of musicians’ music.
