Flying Taxis and Electric Air Cargo Take Off in Qatar from 2025
The Qatari Ministry of Transport has announced its plans to conduct trials for electric air taxi and electric air cargo services, starting next year in 2025.
In a statement published by the Qatar News Agency, the ministry said it had obtained all necessary approvals and coordinated with relevant authorities in the country to launch this type of experiment.
The ministry explained that this initiative will contribute to supporting the performance of the transport sector in Qatar by adding a modern concept of air transport that relies on the latest global technology systems and artificial intelligence techniques, thus strengthening the connectivity, integration, sustainability, and environmental friendliness of the public transport system.
According to the same source, this initiative comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to achieve the objectives of the third National Development Strategy, which focuses on harnessing advanced technologies to achieve sustainable development and economic diversification, in addition to supporting Qatar’s position on the map of the transport sector, in order to implement the pillars of the country’s national vision for 2030.
