Morocco and FAO Strengthen Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Industries

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch received today, Thursday in Rabat, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu Dongyu, who visited the Kingdom to attend the 33rd session of the organization’s Regional Conference

During the meeting, the common will to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Liberia in the fields of agriculture and food industries was confirmed. The discussions addressed aspects related to future cooperation and the development of partnership between the two parties

In a joint statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Akhannouch emphasized the importance of achieving integrated development in the agricultural sector, pointing out the efforts made by the Kingdom to increase productivity and improve living conditions in rural areas, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI

For his part, the Director-General of FAO praised Morocco’s experience in the field of agriculture and food industries, considering it as a model to be emulated in Africa

The meeting also highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in sustainable agriculture and rural development, in addition to strengthening urgent interventions to support the sector

The joint statement noted that the two parties agreed to continue cooperation and develop partnership in the coming period, with a focus on promoting trade and investment in the agricultural sector.

This meeting comes within the framework of efforts to enhance cooperation between Morocco and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and to strengthen partnership in the field of agriculture and agricultural development in the African continent
