Alalam24, According to a study published on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 by media monitoring company “Meltwater” and agency “We Are Social,” the number of active social media users has reached over 5 billion people, representing approximately 62.3% of the global population.
The report indicates that the number of users increased by 5.6% last year, exceeding the global population growth of 0.9%.
Facebook, owned by Meta, recorded the highest number of users with 2.19 billion, followed by Instagram with 1.65 billion users and TikTok close behind with 1.56 billion users.
This significant increase in the number of social media users emphasizes their growing role in shaping daily life and social interaction on a global scale. It also confirms the major impact that this aspect of technology plays in the lives of individuals and societies.
