Former Malawi President Visits Morocco, Highlights Strong Bilateral Relations

Alalam24, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, received former Malawi President, Elson Bakili Muluzi, in Rabat today, Friday, carrying a message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI from the President of the Republic of Malawi, Mr. Lazarus Chakwera

The special envoy of the Malawian President emphasized, in a statement to the press after the meeting, the excellent relations between his country and Morocco

The former President of Malawi also expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic nature of the relations between the two countries, confirming that an ambassador “will be sent in the near future to represent his country in Rabat

He noted that “Morocco, with its growing economy, has strong development potential in Africa, and I consider it important for us to establish cooperative relations” with the Kingdom

The relations between Morocco and Malawi have witnessed dynamic growth in all fields since the latter withdrew its recognition of the fictional republic

Furthermore, Malawi was one of the first countries to open a consulate in Laayoune in July 2021, marking a new era characterized by strengthening Moroccan-Malawian relations and enhancing cooperation in all areas of common interest
